Last night Rod Staader took his professional MMA record to 2-2-0 after a dominating submission victory over Tahu at the TUFFA 2 event. The win also secured Rod the TUFFA Welterwieght Champion title.
Justin Murray cleaned the floor at CFC 10 with a submission win over Jacob O’Connell at 1:04 in the 1st round. Justin will now face off against Brian Ebersole for the CFC Welterweight Title.
Neil Robertson fought at the Shooto Contender 1 event last night. Neil fought hard but lost via Arm Bar submission in the second round.
Resident fighters Sean Sutherland, Rod Staader and Andrew Profilli went to war last night on the Rize MMA promotion. Results are as follows:

The NSWBJJF State Championships event was contested today at University of Sydney Sports and Aquatic Centre. We sent seven competitors down for the event and walked away with a few medals. The Events BJJ event was contested today at Five Dock Leisure Centre, Sydney. We sent eight competitors down for the event and walked away with a few medals.

Last night Marcelo Rezende from Gracie Barra Sydney promoted nine guys from Newcastle Fight Gym. The promotions included:
Black Belt - Jamie Ballard
Brown Belt - Justin Murray and Adrian Yazbeck
Purple Belt - Grant Lawrence
Blue Belt - Andrew Profilli, Rod Staader, Kane Hubner, Dainis Purins and Andrew Darr.
Having trained with Jamie for more than five years, it was an honour to see him reach this pinnacle and be awarded the black belt. Congratulations to all.
The World Professional Jiu Jitsu Cup was contested yesterday in Sydney.
Representing the BJJ team was Graham Waerea and Rod Staader. Graham competed in the stacked 95kg+ black belt bracket of the Australasian trials event, beating Elvis Sinosic in his first match and loosing to Mick Wilson in the final.
Rod competed in the white belt 85kg bracket of the non-trials event. He won his first match of the day by submission and lost his next match. Well done guys on the great results!.
Personal Player Insurance is now due for the year. The cost is $12 per person.

Newcastle Fight Gym fighter Rod Staader fought under muay thai rules at this event in Sydney.
Rod fought hard and was unlucky to loose a judge's decision.
The Pan Pacs were contested last weekend in Melbourne. Representing the BJJ team was Graham Waerea. Graham competed in the 97kg+ Purple Belt bracket and won the Gold medal.
Newcastle Fight Gym MMA fighters Andrew Profilli and Neil Roberston debuted tonight on CFC6.
Andrew was victorious over his opponent by TKO. Neil unfortunately lost his fight by armbar.
Mark, Mick and Josh represented the BJJ team at Round 3 of the NSWBJJF State Circuit. Mark picked up the gold medal in the 85kg blue belt bracket.
Adam Clerke and Dainis Purins represented the BJJ team at the ISKA World Cup last weekend. Both guys walked away with Gold medals after some hard competition. Congratulations!
Gracie Barra Black Belt Marcello Rezende and his Sydney team will be visiting the gym for an intensive training session on Saturday 18/10/08. Class starts at 5pm so make sure you come along.
Monday 06/10/08 is a public holiday. The gym will be OPEN on this day and training is on as per usual. Bring your tapping hand and Ill see you on the mat.
Gustavo "Guga" Pinto will be visiting the gym on Thursday night (19/09/08) to take the class.
Guga is a gracie barra black belt and a fantastic instructor.
Make sure you get along for the class, cost will be $20.

Five members of our BJJ team will be competing at Round 2 of the NSWBJJ Federation state circuit this coming weekend.
Competitors include Adam Clerke, Neil Robertson (Blue Belt), TJ Penner, Clint O'Melley and Dainis Purins (White Belt).

The National Submission Championships were held in Sydney. Brett Murnane and Rod Staader represented the gym at this event. Brett secured third position in the highly stacked Beginner's Division.
Team Ballard fighter, Sean Sutherland was victorious at Warriors Realm 12 winning via a points decision. Congratulations to Sean.
